Camp Cook
Position Supervisor: Operations Manager
Position Objective
Cook position is responsible for directing kitchen operations at the assigned camp, including preparing, serving and storing food as directed by the Operations Manager in a safe and efficient manner consistent with Camp McCullough’s mission, vision and values.
Key Job Accountabilities
Create and complete menus as needed
Complete and schedule food orders as needed
Pull, prepare, serve and store food in accordance with food handling procedures to ensure safe, nutritious meals for camps’ enjoyment and to prevent food spoilage and/or foodborne illness
Maintain accurate records of refrigerators’ and freezers’ temperatures to ensure compliance with food service specifications
Conduct inventory as needed
Clean ovens, grills and ventilation hood as required by the Operations Manager to maintain sanitary standards
Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assistant cook(s)
Summer staff/students/volunteers assigned to prepare meals
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Some college or more, dependent upon skills
Current WA State Food Handler’s card
Work Experience
Food Service industry experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to prepare meals in accordance with industry standards
Ability to instruct and train others
Knowledge and ability to use and maintain industrial kitchen equipment
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 35-50 lbs
This job may require lifting and carrying cases of canned goods, sacks of dry product, etc.
Requires the ability to see, hear and talk
Additional Requirements/Skills
Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirement for onsite community living
Days off will be flexed to meet the demand of the kitchen. Extended hours sometimes required
